Green Mortuary Services

 Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is proud to be recognized as a Three-leaf rated Mortuary and Two-leaf rated Cemetery by the Green Burial Council for providing eco-friendly funeral services. Our green casket and shroud options uphold environmental sustainability by allowing families to honor loved ones without using toxic or non-biodegradable materials. Green burial grounds at Hillside

Green Caskets

While traditional caskets may be used within Gan Eden, our green caskets are designed to mitigate environmental impact and fulfill your wishes for environmentally conscious burial practices.

  • Arava

    Eco-friendly, hand-crafted woven willow with a natural, unbleached cotton interior. 

  • Arava Base

    Reinforced willow base with a natural unbleached cotton interior. 

Green Burial Shrouds

  • Olam

    100% Raw silk with a cotton canvas back; four cotton web handles for pallbearers with lowering straps. Hand-sewn cotton batting lining quilted with aromatic herbs in lavender, white sage, and rose petals.

  • Lavan

    100% Linen with a cotton canvas back; four cotton web handles for pallbearers with lowering straps. Cotton batting lining.

  • Natural Shrouding Wash

    100% Natural eight oz. Aromatic floral wash is to be used after cleansing. Available in three fragrances: Neroli/Orange Blossom, Rose/Rosemary, and Lavender/Rue.

Hillside is proud to offer two Green Burial Shrouds that may be used in place of a casket for services and burial within Gan Eden.

Funeral Preparations

In Jewish tradition, funerals are held promptly, often the same day or within a few days, depending on observance levels and family needs. Scheduling considers the availability of family, clergy, and Hillside Memorial Park. Please refer to our multi-year Jewish calendar to identify holidays when services and visitations are unavailable.
