Tut Howe, proudly born in Spokane, Washington on March 5, 1923, was a talented dancer and was performing en pointe by the age of 9. She moved with her father, Samuel Reginald Howe, to Los Angeles in 1933. She made many friends at Union Avenue Elementary, Virgil Junior High, and Belmont High School. After graduating, she started working downtown at Brooks (later Harris & Frank) as a switchboard operator, where she made many lifelong friends. After World War II, a young man named Gary Platt who worked in the display department kept making excuses to come by her switchboard. After 8 years she finally agreed to elope with him to Las Vegas in 1954. She was a proud member of IATSE Treasurers and Ticket Sellers Local 857 for 50 years and loved her jobs at the Pan Pacific Auditorium and the Biltmore Theatre. The family thanks Cheryl, MaryAnne, and Maha for their loving care. Tut is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Alice Platt (Dan Newmark), brother Tom Murphy, a niece, nephews, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and most importantly, the apple of her eye, her granddaughter Lily.
