Shirley Gertrude Green

Shirley Green, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA. Born November 7, 1923 to Jeanette and David Rubin, Shirley grew up in Los Angeles as a prized and cherished only child. In 1943, she married her sweetheart whom she met on Catalina Island, Bob Green. They were married for 53 years until his passing. Shirley Green was always the life of the party up to the very end. She was always winking and smiling at everyone she met. Ahead of her time, socially and in education, she always led by example. Incredibly brave and independent, she and her husband traveled the world visiting almost every continent in detail. Her sharp wit and love for friends leaves behind a wealth of hilarious and fantastical stories. She will be remembered as the consummate host, tap dancing and dressing to impress. A lover of animals she was always accompanied by a beloved fluffy dog. Shirley was preceded by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Green, her best friend of 80 years Ann Berns, and son Douglas Green. She is survived by her son Roger Green, her grandchildren Travis, Jace, Sophie, and Sydney, her six great-grandchildren, her beloved adopted family members Marie Maretska, Scott Sherman, and Ron Celona, and her many dear sweet friends and cousins. A special thanks to the amazing caregivers, nurses, and doctors that took care of her.
