Patricia “Pat” Lynne Hoffman Lipsey was born in Kansas City, MO to Lewis and Gladys Hoffman in 1937 and grew up with her older brother Frank and older sister Carol Ann.  Upon high school graduation, Pat attended Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, MA.  Pat married Charles “Chuck” Lipsey in 1958 and they were together until Chuck’s death in 2022.  After multiple moves during the first 14 years of their marriage, they settled in Westwood Village with their 3 sons in 1972 and once their children were grown, moved to Century City where she lived the remainder of her life. With all three boys in school, Pat began volunteering in the Warner Avenue Elementary School library, a stint that lasted 35 years.  As the beloved librarian who helped a generation of students with book suggestions, reading to the classes and fighting for library resources, she got as much from being surrounded by the kids as they did from her.  It was a special relationship she had with the kids and something she treasured.

Pat is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Craig and Irene, David and Shayne, Tommy and Edith, 3 grandchildren, Erin (and husband Nicholas Ferreiro), Matthew (and fiancé Tatum Ozen) and Jason, 7 nieces and nephews (and their spouses), and 9 great nieces and nephews.  When not at the library, Pat kept busy with crossword puzzles, playing cards with friends and joining Chuck on the golf course.  She was a trailblazer in the 1970s when she became the first woman manager at Westwood Little League.  Her love of sports was evident and after attending Super Bowl I, she continued to root for the Chiefs and Royals.

Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Wednesday February 12 th at 2pm.
