Myrna departed peacefully after a long and fulfilling journey. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Oken, parents, Ben and Irene Silverstein, sister, Sandy Hoffman, stepdaughter, Nancy Oken, and son-in-law, Rick Stuart.
Myrna was the cherished mother of Michele Oken Stuart, Jay (Tracie) Oken, and Stuart (Carol) Oken. She was a beloved Bubbi to Brooke (Eric), Lindsey (Justin), Ben, Will, Ashley (Jose), Jordan (Brittany), and Grace, and a proud Big Bubbi to Hanna, Judah, Spencer, Lily, Austin, and Ivy. She was also a dear Aunt, Great-Aunt, and a dedicated friend who always went the extra mile.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Myrna graduated from Los Angeles High School and attended the University of Southern California (USC). She was an accomplished pianist, and dedicated countless hours to volunteering for various organizations, including Temple Beth Am Sisterhood and the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
Myrna’s love for travel took off at the age of 10 when her family sailed to Hawaii on the SS Matsonia, the first ship to the islands after the war. She became a travel agent in 1975 and opened her own agency, Traveling Yours, eventually affiliating with ProTravel. Her passion for exploration and helping others discover new destinations was her compass in life.
