Margery Braun Greenwald

Margery Braun Greenwald was born in Los Angeles on June 8, 1948.   As the middle child of Michael and Rosalie Braun, Margie attended Beverly Hills High (Class of 1966) and UCLA (Class of 1970).  In 1970, Margie married Jon Greenwald.  Margie and Jon moved to Ventura County where they raised their two children and were active in the Jewish community.   They were married for thirty one years until Jon passed away from cancer in 2001.  Margie was a school teacher both in the beginning and end of her professional career.  Margie also earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.  In the 1990’s Margie served as the Executive Director of Jewish Family Services of Ventura County where she worked to resettle Russian Jews immigrating to the United States through HIAS.  In her later life, Margie moved to Irvine, California to be near her daughter and grandchildren.   Being a Bubbe was Margie’s most treasured role in life. Margie is survived by her son Ben Greenwald and daughter-in-law Patricia Driscoll, daughter Julie and son-in-law Ben Marzouk, her grandchildren Eleanor, Jax, Jonathan, and Reuben, her sister Trudy Kallman, and her brother Rick Braun.  Margie died March 28, 2024 and was a fighter until the very end.  She showed strength and grace throughout her life.  She will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.   A service to honor Margie’s life will be held at Hillside Mortuary in Los Angeles on April 1, 2024 at 10 a.m.  The service may also be livestreamed at https://hillsidememorial.livecontrol.tv/ce83883b .  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Hope Cancer.
