Manny Marfield passed away at home on Wednesday, October 21st after living a truly exciting and cinematic life. He fought hard, loved hard, and was always ready for a party. He wasn’t just a person you met; he was a person you remembered. He was 100.
Manny was born on August 14, 1920 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but lived his early life in Brooklyn, NY where he met and married the great love of his life, Alice, who died of ALS in May 2000. From 194201945 he fought in the Pacific Campaign during WWII as a member of the Sea Bee Battalion. His bravery and unrivaled determination served him well during his military experience as it did after the war when he started an automotive parts business. Manny was a self-made man. His business became highly successful and he was proud when his son, Joel, became his business partner. He leaves behind three children – Deanne Simon (William), Linda Gordon (Lee), Joel Marfield (Lori); six grandchildren – Steven Simon, Michelle Simon Fromme (David), Adam Gordon, Seth Gordon (Irina), Scott Marfield and John Marfield (Jason Black); and three great-grandchildren, Alice, Asher, and Sasha. He loved life and enjoyed every moment with enthusiasm and youthful exuberance. We were so very lucky to have him for 100 years. He made an indelible mark on us all.
