Jay Elliott Flaxman

Jay Flaxman, 76, passed away on May 29, 2019 in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Jay was very active in his community, on the board for The Oregon Coast Music Association, a ‘Man of Steel’ at the local gym, participated at the Dolphin Theater, volunteered his tax expertise and enjoyed contra and ballroom dancing. He was known around Coos Bay as the man who always took his morning walks, rain or shine, with his pipe and bucket hat.
Jay was born to Sydney Flaxman and Sydell (Goldstein) on May 29, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Los Angeles in 1946 and attended Palms Junior High and Hamilton High schools. He earned his Masters Degree from CSUN and held a career in accounting. In 2002 he retired and moved to Coos Bay.
Jay is survived by his children Aaron and Zana, sister Darra, and grandchildren Tyler, Camden, Madison and Hunter. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Hillside Memorial Park.
