Ivie Sherman

Ivie Sherman passed away April 30, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Simi Valley, CA and then moved to Coral Springs, FL at age 13 where she remained through college, attending the University of Florida. After, Ivie’s love for California brought her back west, where she earned her dual master’s degree in Education and Special Education from UC Riverside. She moved to Lawndale, CA in 2003 to begin her career in education. She was very passionate about helping children both in and outside of the classroom. In addition to public school teaching, Ivie took pride in starting, growing, and managing her own successful tutoring company. She also volunteered as a mentor in the southern California Big Sister program, helping young girls realize their full potential by developing positive and supportive relationships.

She loved to travel the world, salsa dance, exercise, spend time with friends, go on walks with her dog Sebastian, and spend as much time as her schedule allowed visiting her parents, nephew Blake, and niece Sloane. She is survived by her father Bert Sherman and brother Matthew (Stephanie) Sherman.

Ivie will be forever loved and eternally missed. May her memory always be a blessing.
