Gunther W. Sonnenfeld Profile Photo

A distinguished Beverly Hills physician of over 52 years, a clinical assistant professor of medicine at UCLA for over 30, a philanthropist and active community participant, Dr. Sonnenfeld served on the medical board of Cedars-Sinai and Brotman hospitals and was instrumental in advanced infectious disease research over his long career.

Dr. Sonnenfeld had an incredible life and upbringing. He was one of very few to have survived Fascism and Communism within a span of ten years. He escaped the German holocaust under Hitler in 1938, and then lived under Mao’s communist regime in Shanghai, China until 1948. He achieved great accomplishments and success in the United States after emigrating to San Francisco, attending the University of Illinois outside of Chicago, and then making his home in Los Angeles to pursue his career and raise his family.

Dr. Sonnenfeld was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and the community.
