Doctor Elton James (Jim) Tourje, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 80 after a brief illness. Jim had a zest for life – he loved to travel, entertain friends and family, and share in a laugh with anyone around him. He had a generous spirit and a quirky sense of humor that is greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife Clarita Wisnia; her children Sharon (Paren), David (Claudia), and Ilan; her grandchildren Katya, Bella, and Grayson; his two daughters Jennifer (Mike) and Camille (Elijah); his granddaughter Gigi; his three sisters Diane, Sue, and Marnie; step-children Kent and Karen; and many loving relatives and friends – and his beloved puppy Snoopy.

Jim was born on September 5, 1943, in Youngstown, Ohio to Grace and Mike Tourje. He attended the College of St. Thomas and earned his M.D. from the University of Minnesota. Following positions in Minnesota and California, Jim found a fulfilling career at Cedars-Sinai Imaging, where he worked for nearly 40 years. He was a dedicated employee, colleague, and mentor. Jim was always willing to consult on a case, finding his work interesting and engaging. He was quick with a laugh and could often be found humming as he walked through the hospital hallways. Jim passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his home away from home for so many years of his career.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 21. For more information, please email jimtourje2024@gmail.com .

Jim was an avid admirer of the construction arts. To honor his memory, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity (habitat.org or 800-422-4828).
