Edward Ellis Fine, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Marina Del Rey, California on Thursday, January 25. Ed was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 20, 1923 and was married to Corinne (Kaplan) Fine for almost 69 years. They moved to Los Angeles 40 years ago which had been a dream of both of theirs. Ed attended Cleveland College where he received a BA in business administration and served four years in the Army Air Corps in WWll. He started his career in advertising and then became President of the Harwill Ice Cream Company and Executive Vice President of Pierre’s French Ice Creams in Cleveland, also serving as President of the Medallion Dairy Association. Proudly civic minded Ed served several terms as Chairman of the Beachwood Recreation Board, the citizens advisory committee of the Beachwood School Board and co- founded the Beachwood Stadium, Bowling League, Little Theatre and softball league for adults. He was devoted to children’s charities and became a Director and Chief Barker (Cleveland Chapter) of Variety Club International. After moving to Los Angeles Ed started a small specialty ice cream company with a local dairy and sold to all the best restaurants. Ed and Corinne were passionate about their tennis and Ed played until he was 90 years old. He was an avid sports fan and stayed loyal to his Cleveland teams as well as Ohio State. They travelled the world extensively and had a rich and active social life, friends and family. Devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather he is survived by his wife Corinne, brother Harold Fine,son Marty Fine, daughter Debra McGuire, son-in-law Billy McGuire and grandchildren Gavin and Lily.
