It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Claire Lillian Schweitzer, who peacefully departed this world on Friday April 11, 2025, at the age of 98.
She was a devoted wife of over 55 years to her beloved husband, Jerry Schweitzer, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. Claire touched the lives of many people with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will live on through the memories and love she shared with her family and friends. Claire found joy in painting and was extremely talented. Her colorful paintings were featured throughout her home, and she was proud to have sold some of her artwork for others to enjoy.
Claire’s warm heart was matched by the warmness of her kitchen. She was an excellent cook, both in traditional and classical foods, and she always strove for perfection in everything she created. She has always been and will always be an inspiration to her family. Though her physical presence is gone, her love and spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We will carry her memory with us, remembering her gentle touch, her radiant smile, and the immeasurable love she shared with us.
Her giving heart inspired her to become a committed member of Hadassah. She held various positions in the organization throughout her 80 plus year involvement, including President of the Leora Chapter in Beverly Hills.
Claire is survived by her treasured sons Dr. William Schweitzer and Steven Schweitzer; her cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Walter, Aaron, Francine, Alan J, Alana; her dear daughters-in-law Karen Calderon-Schweitzer and Yvette Schweitzer. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Schweitzer and by sons Michael Schweitzer and Daniel Schweitzer. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Park located at 6001 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadassah in Claire’s memory at www.hadassah.org/donate.
