Blanche Wilks

Blanche Wilks (née Roberts) passed away on March 10, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 95. She was born on December 5, 1928, in Ohio.

Blanche was known for her intellectual curiosity, warmth, generosity, connection to nature, and elegance. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who found joy in gardening, folk dance, and volunteering for the youth literacy nonprofit Learning Ally.

Blanche is survived by her children Daniel (Lynne) Linda (Jim Swindle), and Rebecca (Marco Cecala); her grandchildren Asa (Mallika Bhandarkar), Moses (Wendy Kozak-Wilks), and Marza Wilks, and great-grandchildren Meghana, Violet, and Keshav Wilks. She was preceded in death by her husband Seymour Wilks.

Blanche attended McClain High School in Greenfield, Ohio before studying at The Ohio State University. She married Seymour in 1948 and they began their life in California.

A service to honor Blanche’s life will be held at Hillside Mortuary in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The service may be streamed at https://hillsidememorial.livecontrol.tv/be6c9107.
